NBA: LeBron James game-winner extends Heat win streak to 16

There's a reason why LeBron James is given the ball in the final seconds of a Miami Heat game. Once again, James scored a last-minute lay-up to give his team the 97-96 win over Orlando, extending Miami's franchise-record winning streak to 16 games.
With mere seconds left in the fourth quarter, James dribbled diagonally through the lane for the go-ahead shot, scoring a lay-up that would eventually be the game-winner. Orlando only had three seconds left (and no timeouts) and heaved a desperation three-pointer to try to steal the game from the Heat.

In a remarkable streak, the Heat have now won 16 games in a row. The longest win streak ever was 33, courtesy of the 1971-72 L.A. Lakers.

The Heat lead the Eastern Conference by an impressive margin. The closest team to Miami is New York, and they're 7 games behind the all-stars from South Beach.

James scored 26 points, Dwyane Wade notched 24 points and Chris Bosh added 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Heat.

Nic Vucevic led the Magic with 25 points and 21 rebounds. Jameer Nelson and Tobias Harris scored 16 points apiece.

Orlando led by 5 at one point, before the Heat stormed back in the fourth. Orlando hit an impressive 44.9 percent against Miami's tight defense. They also out-rebounded Miami 45 to 33.

Trying to keep the win streak going, the Heat will face Philadelphia on Friday and the Pacers on Sunday.
